Excellence in Teaching
The study of Modern Languages at Leicester offers students a challenging and stimulating path to a degree. We have achieved excellent results in the annual National Student Survey exercise, and in various independently calculated league tables. Whichever language you study at Leicester, you can be sure of the highest level of teaching and pastoral support from our staff. See our recent awards.
Excellence in Research
Underpinning the quality of teaching offered by the School is the wide range of research activity which goes on. Staff research interests range from the medieval period in Italy through to contemporary South American literature, French minority studies and German cinema. See more about the research in our department.
Language learning opportunities
We offer a range of methods for gaining confidence and fluency in your language(s), including a hugely popular summer school scheme at the end of your first year. You will also spend a year studying or working abroad to really polish up your skills.
