Pawas Bisht has a BA in English Literature from Delhi University and an MA in Mass Communication from the AJK Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India (AJK MCRC). He is presently reading for a PhD at the Culture and Media Analysis Research Group (CAMARG), Department of Social Sciences, Loughborough University where his work examines the cultural memory of the Bhopal Gas Disaster.
Prior to undertaking his PhD studies, Pawas was a full time faculty member on the MA Mass Communication program (2007-2009) at the AJK MCRC, teaching modules on film production, film theory, media analysis and visual communication.
Alongside teaching he worked as a documentary filmmaker, primarily on independent projects including work commissioned by Channel 4 (UK), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Global Environment Facility (GEF) and Doordarshan, India’s national broadcaster. He has also had a stint at Sesame Street (India) as a producer of documentary shorts for children. His work has been telecast on Channel 4 (UK), CNBC-TV18, DD National, DD News and POGO.
