Minimal 2-spheres with various symmetry properties in the round 4-sphere

Abstract:

Each minimal 2-sphere in the round 4-sphere has a holomorphic horizontal lift to the total space of the twistor bundle, which is the projection from complex projective 3-space to the 4-sphere. Symmetry properties of the minimal 2-sphere are reflected in corresponding properties of the lift, and this is used to construct, and, in some cases, classify, minimal 2-spheres with various symmetry properties in the 4-sphere.  This is joint work with Prof L Fernandez (CUNY).
