Modelling mantle dynamics back in time: finding the most likely scenario (Ref: GL.12.19)

Funding is available for a PhD studentship in this field jointly supervised between the department of Mathematics and Geology at the University of Leicester and the British Geological Society. Full details of the project can be found here.

EPSRC PhD Studentships in Pure and Applied Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics has  EPSRC studentships for students from the United Kingdom (UK) or the European Union (EU), funded through the Department's EPSRC-based Doctoral Training Account (DTA). The studentships provide full funding (for 3.5 years) for UK and EU PhD students, who have been residents in the UK for 3 years prior to application, and fees-only funding for other EU students. These studentships are awarded on a competitive basis and application should be made through the Department, preferably by 1st of March for students wishing to start the following October. Applicants with an interest in Pure or Applied Mathematics related to the research fields of academics in the Department are welcome.

  • Funding: £13,590 in the first year, rising in successive years, and full tuition fees
  • Applicants profile: The successful applicant would have a 1st or upper 2nd class honour degree in Mathematics or related areas, preferable a four year degree or an MSc or Master degree
