Will Light Scholarship
Background to Scholarship
"Will Light became head of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Leicester in 1991. Under his guidance the department became one of the best research departments in the UK, and has continued to grow since his death in 2002. The excellent reputation of the Department in teaching followed from his fine example, and is testimony to the care he took with all his students. Will had great vision, and initiated the development of the MSc in Financial Mathematics and Computation at Leicester. His ex-PhD student, Dr Henry Wayne, from Citigroup now supervises internships of students on the degree. This demonstrates the loyalty that Will commanded. In honour of his contributions to this degree and to all of the Department's activities we have initiated the Will Light Scholarship for Home/EU students on the MSc in Financial Mathematics and Computation. This prestigious scholarship is worth £3000, and will be awarded only to a student of outstanding quality." - Professor Jeremy Levesley, Head of Department
