Scholarships

Department scholarships

The department is able to offer scholarships of up to £1500 towards the reduction of tuition fees for exceptional academic performance. Assessment of this will be based on the achievement of a 1st class BSc in Mathematics or equivalent and will be taken from an applicants transcripts, references and applicant statement – no additional application is required.

University open scholarships

There are also a small number of open scholarships offered by the University to students enrolling on a full-time masters programme. These are awarded purely on the basis of academic merit, please note you must have been given an offer of a place before applying for an open scholarship.

Loyalty Discounts/Schemes

Family discount
A 10% tuition fee discount will be given to students who register for a full-time course if a close family member, spouse, sibling or parent, has also studied, or is studying, at the University of Leicester on a full-time course paying the overseas fee.

Continuing Studies Discount
International students who have taken one degree course at the University of Leicester and paid the full published fee for international students and take a further full-time degree course will also be given a discount of 10%. Students who qualify for either discount will be invited to apply for the fee reduction at registration. However, the overall fee reduction can not exceed £1900

UK/EU applicants - Standard fee - £7,810

Will Light ScholarshipWill Light

For the 2012/13 intake a single Will Light Scholarship of £3000 (towards the reduction of tuition fees) will be offered to an exceptional UK/EU applicant on a competitive basis. This scholarship is available by application only, with applications welcomed before 25th May 2012.

To be considered for this scholarship an applicant should already possess an offer (conditional or unconditional) for a place on the programme.  In addition you are required to write a letter addressing why you should be considered for this prestigious scholarship.

The scholarship panel will make its decision by 15th June 2012 and the selected applicant will be informed shortly after this. It is expected that if offered the applicant should firmly accept the offer no later than the 15th July 2012.

This scholarship cannot be combined with any other scholarship/fee reduction offered by the Department or University.

Former Leicester graduates get a loyalty discount of £400 but overall fee reduction cannot exceed £500.
