List of Abstracts
This is the 6th of the Algorithms for Approximation conference series, an interdisciplinary meeting concerned with various aspects of approximation.
The conference will take place in Ambleside in the Lake District from August 31 to September 4, 2009.
It is aimed that this conference will be arranged around the following big Emerging Themes:
- Tropical Mathematics, Multiscale Systems and Asymptotic Approximation
- Wild Complexity and Approximation
- Multidimensional Problems in Approximation
- Approximation of Low Dimensional Manifolds and Model Reduction
- Non-Linear and Non-Smooth Dynamics
The conference will include contributed talks around the emerging themes in the afternoon and there will also be a parallel session with more “classical” themes such as Metrology (chemometry), Radial Basis Functions, computational methods for PDEs, lattice and kinetic methods, sparse grids, control and ODEs, fast evaluation, monte carlo, wavelets, classical approximation, etc.
Keynote Speakers include:
C. Budd (Bath)
Y. Kevrekidis (Princeton) Abstract
G. L. Litvinov (Moscow)
R. S. MacKay (Warwick) Abstract
S. Rotter (Freiburg)
M. Slemrod (Winsconsin-Madison) Abstract
Workshops
The following workshops within the A4A6 conference have already been confirmed:
Coping with Complexity: Model Reduction and Data Analysis
Mathematics of the Brain
Important Dates:
Abstract submission and minisymposium proposal submission: 10 April 2009 (extended from 31st of March)
Notification of acceptance of talks and of minisymposia: 10th May 2009
Early registration deadline : 31 June 2009 (late registration is subject to an additional £50)
Full invited paper submission: 30 November 2009
A number of invited papers will be included in a proceedings volume to be published by Springer.
