Co-operative Education

Having pioneered Co-operative Management and Organisational Development by distance learning. The Unit offers consultancy to other institutions seeking to establish distance learning and full-time co-operative management programmes at post experience and post graduate levels.

Co-operative Management, Strategy and Policy

We also offer consultancy in areas relating to Co-operative Management, Co-operative Strategic Marketing, Governance, Human Capital and Social Capital Development, Energy Saving (in collaboration with the University of Leicester Energy Centre).

International Management Development Seminars

We are currently offering eight one day seminars on Co-operative Value Based Management for CEOs Executive Managers and Board Members in given national/regional contexts. The seminars cover: Co-operative Strategy Parts One and Two; Co-operative Strategic Marketing; Co-operative Strategic Human Capital Management Parts One and Two; Co-operative Organisational Development Parts One and Two; Globalisation and Co-operation.

a) The first explores the applications of Co-operative Value Based Management in the context of co-operative responses to Globalisation in the area of strategy/policy development.

b) The second explores Co-operative Value based management in the Context of Organisational Change and Entrepreneurship within the Co-operative Sector.

Teaching - Research Degrees

We have successfully supervised three part-time PhD programmes with a focus on co-operatives in terms of regional and community economic development and organisational development. One was concerned with developing credit unions, one on the role and impact of co-operative banks in rural development, and one which explored co-operatives in the context of economic policy.
