Centre for Labour Market Studies (CLMS)

The Centre for Labour Studies is a group within the School which takes an interdisciplinary approach to the study of work, organisations, employment, skills and learning.

Our research is clustered around four major themes:

  • Youth Transitions to Work
  • Employability and Locality
  • Work and Worker Organisation
  • Skills, Performance and Development

The centre has an international reputation for high quality research and teaching which has direct relevance for both the policy-making and practitioner communities.

CLMS has a governance structure which distributes fundung to support School researchers who have an interest in employment relations, workplace learning and the labour market. Colleagues can bid for up to £2,500 to pump prime projects, fund initial research ideas and feasibility studies, scoping exercises etc. which may form the foundation of larger and ultimately externally funded projects.
