Biography
Amee Kim studied MSc in International Finance and Financial Institutions at the University of Glasgow in 2010. During this degree, she acquired a wealth of specialised knowledge that was relevant for her field of research. This information contributed to a broader viewpoint about a specific research area and also a realisation that well-developed specialised knowledge can lead to positive effects and to the creation of original and critical ideas.
PhD Research
A dynamic approach to the measurement of business risk in an economic-capital framework for banks: focused on scenario-based analysis
Research Interests
Amee's main research interest lies in the complexities of international banks and other financial institutions and their management problems in an international setting. In this setting institutions are subject to many financial and other risks. Amee also wishes to thoroughly research how banks and financial institutions decisions can be explained via theories of the firm, of behaviours, and of knowledge. She would also like to research the relationship between communication and regulation in the business area, such as the psychology of regulation, especially “self-regulation”, and in particular the theory of ‘regulatory focus’. The relationship between “regulatory focus” and language use, including the drafting and interpretation of business regulations will also be researched. Amee also has a significant interest in the effect of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors in investment processes and ownership practices in fund management.
