School Facilities for Campus-Based Research Students
The School is able to provide access to a computer, printer and telephone.
A PhD community is encouraged by the School through the two annual internal PhD conferences that are compulsory for all full-time and part-time research students.
Attendance at external conferences is encouraged from the second year onwards, and campus-based students are expected to go to the weekly school seminar which offers presentations from visiting and school academics.
Distance learning students are obliged to visit Leicester twice during their degree.
They will have to visit the School of Management in order to take their Probationary Review Examination at the end of the second year. For international students the period of stay for this examination is suggested to be at least three days, though they may stay longer if they wish to take the opportunity to attend training or have face to face supervision meetings. They will also have to visit Leicester to take the Viva examination after their thesis has been submitted.
Distance learning students are of course welcome to visit the school at any time during their registration, to attend the internal PhD conferences, workshops, training or simply meet up with their supervisors.
