Biography

I joined the school in 2010 after two years at the School of Social Sciences and the School of City and Regional Planning in Cardiff University. Before that I was a Marie Curie Fellow at the Department of History of Consciousness and Center for Culture Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz. I am an elected Council Member of the Society for Social Studies of Science and an associate member of the Group of Constructivist Studies of the Free University of Brussels. Both my first degree and PhD are in Philosophy. I also hold an MPhil in Social and Political Sciences (all from the Free University of Brussels) and have Masters level training in Women and Gender Studies from Utrecht University.

Research Interests

I am interested in how questions of ethics, politics and justice affect and are affected by the organisation of scientific practices and the cultural imaginaries of technoscience. My other main broad research interest is the production of alternative forms of knowing and organising in social movements – such as everyday practices of care in ecological movements. I have conducted extensive research on the politics of knowledge construction and epistemological justification in the context of scientific practice and technological development. My earlier work and publications are on feminist epistemologies, constructivist and process philosophies, as well as the institutional transformations of knowledge production in the ‘knowledge economy’, all topics in which I have an ongoing interest.
