Biography
Fotios Pasiouras is Assistant Professor of Quantitative Techniques in Business Administration at the Department of Production Engineering and Management at Technical University of Crete, where he is also Co-Director of Research of the Financial Engineering Laboratory.
He obtained a Bachelor in Economics (major:business economics) from the Department of Economics of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece), an MBA (Finance) and a PhD from Coventry University Business School (UK). He completed the Teaching Development Programme at the University of Bath, and he holds a Certificate in International Auditing from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
After the completion of his PhD, Fotios worked as Research Associate (Economist) at the Financial Engineering Laboratory of Technical University of Crete (September 2005-June 2006). Between July 2006 and August 2009, he was a Lecturer in Accounting at the University of Bath School of Management (UK) where he taught both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
He is a Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Governance & Regulation at the University of Bath School of Management and an Honorary Research Fellow of the Faculty of Business, Environment & Society at Coventry University. Between June and December 2008 he was a Foreign Research Fellow at the Centre for Central Banking Education & Studies of the Central Bank of Indonesia. Since January 2010 he is one of the Coordinators of the EURO Working Group on Efficiency & Productivity Analysis (EWG-EPA).
Fotios has published over 40 papers in international journals such as: Journal of Banking & Finance, Review of Quantitative Finance & Accounting, International Review of Financial Analysis, European Journal of Operational Research, Omega, Expert Systems with Applications, etc.
Research Interests
Current research interests: Regulations, risk-taking, efficiency and productivity of banking and insurance firms.
Past Research Interests: prediction of bankruptcy, detection of falsified financial statements, credit risk modelling, and bank mergers and acquisitions.
