Biography
Andrea graduated in Economics at University of Trieste (Italy) before taking an MBA at the Open University Business School (UK) and a PhD at Lancaster University Management School (UK). After fifteen years as senior financial advisor for SMEs in a consulting firm completely owned by a group of small local banks, he moved to the academia in 2008 joining The Open University Business School where he taught finance modules in the MBA. In 2010 he started working with the University of Leicester School of Management. Currently he is member of the board of directors of two real estate development firms and advises a leading Italian insurance company about CSR and Corporate social responsibility reporting.
Research Interests
Andrea’s research interests are mainly on SMEs – bank lending relationship. He investigates issues SMEs face accessing credit, what can reduce the information asymmetry between SMEs and banks and the role of soft factors such as trust in the lending relationships. In addition, he is interested in SMEs capital structure and its optimisation, in SMEs financial planning, and in social responsibility reporting in the service sector.
PhD Supervision
He is happy to supervise dissertations about SMEs financing and particularly about SMEs capital structure and about the relationship between SMEs and banks both in Europe and in developing countries.
Teaching
Currently Andrea teaches Performance Measurement (MSc in Finance), Dissertation Methods (MSc in Finance) and International Business (BA Management Studies).
