Recognition of Leicester Efficiency Research by Indonesian Authorities
On behalf of the BPK, the 7th Board member, Dr Bahrullah Akbar invited two School of Management academics- Dr Meryem Duygun Fethi and Dr Mohamed Shaban as the speakers in the panel.
Around 80 executives and government officials representing Bank Indonesia, executive directors from 4 major state-owned banks (that comprises the 65% of the banking sector in the country) and auditors from the BPK attended this panel.
Dr Fethi and Dr Shaban highlighted the significance of measuring efficiency in the banking sector given the recent the global crisis and explained their research on bank performance measurement in emerging economies. They detailed the recent techniques in the area of measuring bank and bank branch performance.
Dr Fethi and Dr Shaban commented, "We are very pleased to see such keen interest from the BPK officials on our research, which led to a number of research collaboration opportunities with them. It will be delightful experience for us to assist the BPK in their endeavour for performance auditing by implementing the recent advances in performance measurement techniques".
