The Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) organised a panel on 31 July in Jakarta and invited state banks to improve their viewpoint in bank performance, in particular to create awareness in efficiency and accountability for better state financial management.

Dr Fethi and Dr Shaban highlighted the significance of measuring efficiency in the banking sector given the recent the global crisis and explained their research on bank performance measurement in emerging economies. They detailed the recent techniques in the area of measuring bank and bank branch performance.

Dr Fethi and Dr Shaban commented, "We are very pleased to see such keen interest from the BPK officials on our research, which led to a number of research collaboration opportunities with them. It will be delightful experience for us to assist the BPK in their endeavour for performance auditing by implementing the recent advances in performance measurement techniques".
