Commonwealth Scholarships

MSc in Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management
Course start date: September 2011.

The University of Leicester is pleased to offer five scholarships to individuals  from low and middle income Commonwealth countries* with a career path linked to the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals [MDGs], wishing to study the University’s distance-learning MSc in Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management.

The scholarships cover full tuition fees (£9,610) and include funds to attend University study events.

How to apply for the scholarship

To be eligible to apply, candidates are required to:
1. Hold an unconditional offer to start the course in September 2011, and
2. Be a citizen of one the countries listed below, and
3. Be working in the countries listed, and
4. Have a career related to the Millennium Development Goals.

Candidates who meet the above requirements can apply for a scholarship by using a form available from Miles Lane – mtl6@le.ac.uk.

The deadline for scholarship applications is 21 April 2011.

Past Commonwealth scholars on the programme include:

• A UN (Sierra Leone) humanitarian affairs officer;
• Health and education facilitators - UN Development Programme’s Millennium Villages Project – Malawi;
• A senior researcher at the Kenyan Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis;
• A senior co-ordinator at the International Baby Food Action Network.
