Located in St Nicholas Circle, close to the city centre, Vaughan College is one of the Institute of Lifelong Learning's teaching centres and and provides a variety of facilities to support your studies.

Vaughan College, for me, represents two years of some of the best experiences anyone can have. Vaughan College has allowed me to chase and, more importantly, start to realise my dreams.  I am now in my second year at Leicester University studying archaeology and I’m proud of how I got here. It’s official, Vaughan College rocks!

Library Services

The David Wilson Library

The University’s David Wilson Library provides a collection of over 1 million print books and journals, 27,000 eJournals and 295,000 eBooks and offers 24/7 opening during term time.

This is the primary resource for all University students and staff, including Vaughan College Foundation, Undergraduate and Postgraduate students. These students gain access via their University ID/library card and University IT account which are issued at registration.

Users should note that any books placed on hold at David Wilson Library must be collected from there as it is not possible to transfer books between main campus and Vaughan libraries.

The Vaughan College Library

The Library at Vaughan College is a departmental library which has more than 7,000 titles on the shelves to support Lifelong Learning students in their studies, but primarily those who are studying for a Certificate of Higher Education.  The library offers excellent facilities for quiet study and membership is available to all registered Lifelong Learning students and staff.

The Vaughan College Library catalogue is available online and  library staff will be able to offer you any advice and support that you may need to access the system.

Students must provide a passport sized photograph and complete registration before their library card will be issued to them at Vaughan.

The majority of users can borrow books for a period of one month, and users are able to renew items after that period unless a title has been recalled by another user.

Certificate students are encouraged to also use the David Wilson Library.

Computer Suite

The open access computer suite provides registered students with computing facilities including word processing, email and internet access. We hope that students will make the fullest possible use of this valuable learning resource.

The computer suite will also be open on some Saturdays (10.00 am - 4.00 pm), when the College is open for day schools (please check in advance for these dates).

Parking

The College car park is for the use of staff, tutors and disabled students. There are several pay and display car parks close to the college. The Highcross Shopping Centre car parks, Castle Park or the surface car parks on St Augustine’s Road and All Saints Road are the closest.

Disabled Access

All levels of Vaughan College are accessible by lift, and parking spaces are available for disabled students. If you have any queries regarding disabled access, please contact the Centre Administrator. It would be helpful if students could indicate on their enrolment form whether they are a wheelchair user.
