Entry Requirements

All applications are assessed as a whole—we review your personal statement, references and employment (if appropriate). Overseas students that do not meet our entry requirements may wish to take a Foundation course. The University of Leicester offer pre-university courses at the International Study Centre. We also accept foundation courses from many other institutions.

Students wishing to undertake this degree programme will require a completed undergraduate degree in another subject. Please consult our typical entry requirements for LLB Graduate Entry (Senior Status) degree programme

Our typical entry requirements are detailed in the table below. Individual offers are subject to the discretion of the Admissions Tutor.

  • We accept all recognised A-levels and high school subjects – including Law and General Studies.
  • Applicants for the LLB Law with a Modern Language degree programme must be studying one A Level (or equivalent) in a Modern Language, although this does not have to be the language that you wish to study during the degree.
  • Applicants for the LLB / Maîtrise in English and French Law must be fluent in French and English, and this will be tested at interview.
  • GCSE English language at grade C or above is strongly preferred.

Applicants may also require an appropriate English Language qualification.

  • Key / Functional Skills are not included in any offer.
  • The School of Law also welcomes applications from 'mature' students, i.e. students aged 21 or over. Applications will be assessed on their own individual merits, although we will require satisfactory evidence of academic ability and a commitment to study. Mature applicants are occasionally invited for interview before a decision is made
  • We do not require the LNAT or LSAT.
  • Please note that the School of Law will only consider applications from students wishing to transfer in to the second or third year of our degree programmes in very exceptional circumstances. 
  • Please note that conditions of the offer will state that the conditions must be completed by the August before you begin your degree programme with us.
