There will be a 10% fee discount for all Home/EU University of Leicester graduates registering for a PhD, pro-rata for part-time. This is not available if any other scholarships or discounts are awarded by the University of Leicester, and is not available to distance learners.

School of Law PhD Scholarships for Home/EU applicants
We particularly encourage applicants in the following fields
- Medical Law and Ethics
- Criminal Law, Criminal Justice, Criminology
- EU Law
We are happy to consider other areas of research where we have relevant supervisory expertise. Please note, we are not currently able to provide supervision in Commercial Law, International Law, or Human Rights Law.
The Scholarship is for PhD researchers starting in October 2012 and will waive fees for 3 years of the PhD programme (or up to 6 years for the part-time PhD programme). The fee waiver applies at the rate for Home/EU PhD researchers.
At the University of Leicester, Law School we provide
- dedicated training programme for legal researchers
- access to shared working space within the Law School
- access to the award winning David Wilson Library and Graduate Reading Room
- printing/photocopy allowance.
To be considered for the Scholarship, an application to the PhD in Law programme must be submitted no later than 30 June 2012 and applicants should clearly indicate in a covering letter they wish to be considered for the Scholarship.

UK/EC students

Funds projects in the humanities. Its remit includes law in the doctrinal tradition, theoretical approaches, and interdisciplinary approaches. Two relevant funding schemes for postgraduate s tudies are the Research Preparation Master's Scheme LLM in Legal Research and the Doctoral Awards Scheme. - Economic and Social Research Council (www.esrc.ac.uk)
Funds socio-legal research and postgraduate research in that area. - The Directory for Grant-Making Trusts, should be available in most large libraries. (Published by the Charities Aid Foundation.)
International students
