Véronique studied Law at the University of Paris X where she graduated from in 1994 with a double degree in French and Anglo-American Business Law. She obtained her LLB degree in 1995 from the University of Kent at Canterbury before completing a doctorate in Law (2002) at the University of London (Queen Mary College). At Leicester, Veronique teaches French Law and Criminology. She is also guest lecturer at the École de Criminologie of the Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium), and a fellow of the London Graduate School.
Véronique is Erasmus co-ordinator for France, course co-ordinator for the jointly run (with Strasbourg) LLB/maîtrise in English and French Law and for the LLB Law with French Law and Language degree. She is also admissions tutor for both these courses.
Research Interests
Foucault studies, psychiatry/psychoanalysis, critical criminology.
Research Projects
Véronique is currently writing a book on Foucauldian criminology for Routledge, for which she was awarded an AHRC research leave award and British Academy Small Research Grant. She also wrote the introduction for (with Dr Suzanne Yang), and translated, Dr Biagi-Chai’s book, Serial Killers: Criminology, Psychiatry, Responsibility (Routledge), from French into English. She is a member of the editorial boards of the International Journal for the Semiotics of Law, Law, Culture and the Humanities, and Theoretical Criminology, and a founding member of Culture/Clinic: Applied Lacanian Psychoanalysis, a journal to be published by Minnesota University Press from 2013. Véronique also recently acted as a consultant to Jean-Stéphane Bron for his documentary on the subprime crisis, Cleveland vs. Wall Street, nominated for the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at the Cannes festival in 2010.
