NS 2014: Forensic Science
Length: 5 weeks
This module explores laboratory techniques used routinely for the forensic analysis of material recovered from scenes of crime to help the police establish:
What happened at the crime scene.
The truth of any statements made by witnesses or suspects.
Who committed the offence.
You will do this by assisting in the police investigation of a major crime. A senior police officer will give you a briefing on the incident, the evidence recovered and what the police hope to establish through forensic science. You will then be presented with a range of forensic techniques available; you will then use your knowledge and understanding to decide what forensic techniques are most appropriate to secure the best evidence from the forensic material available and then carry out those techniques.
