Staff and students in the Centre are involved in a number of areas of research.
The main focus of our research is on pedagogy: how students learn and how to improve learning. This is especially important in an era of rapidly developing technologies which are changing the learning environment. Within this field one of our key areas of focus is problem-based learning.
Staff are also involved in are also involved in research into complex systems (the emergence of complex behaviours from simple rules).
Our students are given the opportunity to engage with the academic research process throughout their degree, culminating in the opportunity to undertake and publish their own research via
- the Student Research Project that provides an opportunity to carry out their own research project under the supervsion of an academic
- our Journal of Interdisciplinary Science Topics that allows students to experience the academic publishing process by writing and reviewing their own student journal.
