Headstart Focus Course - Summer School

Headstart courses have a residential summer-school format, designed to demonstrate what science, engineering and technology is all about. They provide opportunities for designing, building and testing projects, to meet university lecturers, recent graduates, engineering companies and organisations.

Headstart aims to provide talented 17 year-old students (Year 12/S5) who are interested in science and engineering, an opportunity to explore appropriate degree courses and to provide information to assist their choice of university course and career.

Had great fun, supervisors were excellent I absolutely loved the Headstart course and particularly enjoyed making friends with people from all over the UK.

You will also have the opportunity to meet recent graduates and chat about their work experience and the different professional options available from this degree.

A representative from "The Year in Industry" placements will also be giving a presentation and information on how to apply for this scheme.

Students will be accommodated within the university student halls to fully appreciate the experience of university life. Tours of the department and university campus are also provided and attendees will have the opportunity to chat informally to the degree's undergraduates throughout the week.

The Summer School is a wonderful opportunity to experience teamwork and problem solving with other young scientists from across the country.
