Our Facilities
Designated Laboratory
The Centre has a large Interdisciplinary Science laboratory for use during the scheduled practical sessions. In addition, facilities in other departments are available for some specific modules where specialised apparatus and equipment
is required.
Computer Suites
There are several networked computer suites available in the building for use by I-Science students along with a number of open access facilities throughout the University. The building is also covered by the University's wireless network which you can log onto with your username and password using a laptop or smart phone with wireless capability.
Seminar Rooms
Seminar rooms are used during scheduled facilitator, tutorial and expert sessions and outside of these times, these rooms can be booked for private study. The rooms are equipped with smart boards and, in one of the seminar rooms, video conferencing facilities are available.
Staff/Student Common Room
A pleasant common room is available for use by both staff and students as a space where they can meet, sit, relax and work. Vending machines are located nearby for drinks and snacks.
University Facilities
David Wilson Library
The £32 million development of the David Wilson Library opened in April 2008.
The library is now open 24/5 during term time for University students.

- 38 km of shelving in total, over 1 million volumes on the shelves

- Wireless network throughout
- 13 Group study rooms
- Kirby & West Special Collections Suite for rare books and manuscripts to BS5454 standard
- Graduate School Reading Room
- Express Zone incorporating short loan and pick up of reserved books
- RFID self issue and return
- Help zone – combined Library and IT enquiries and assistance
- Two IT training rooms, sponsored by Leicester Mercury, a Northcliffe Media Company
- Additional student facilities: Careers Service, Student Learning Centre,
AccessAbility Zone, 500 seat lecture theatre with associated seminar rooms.
Percy Gee Students' Union & O2 Academy Music Venue
September 2010 saw the opening of the £16.5 million project to develop the Percy Gee Students' Union builing which includes a fantastic new music venue - The O2 Academy.
