Are you interested in more than one science discipline? Do you want to know how they work together to answer some of the big questions facing our society today?
Questions such as....
- What is the importance of nanotechnology and its possible future use in cancer therapy?
- How can we simulate the human body so that we can explore new drug designs and then test their efficacy safely and without animal testing?
- What is the 'real deal' behind climate change? What are the different human and natural contributing factors and how can we limit their impact?
- How are the different components of the biosphere linked and, given the projected increase in population, how we can maintain a healthy and diverse biosphere and maintain our quality of life?
- What are the chances of finding life elsewhere in the Universe?
- Will computers ever be able to think like the human brain?
- What is 'Green Chemistry'?
... then Interdisciplinary Science, The University of Leicester's 'Natural Sciences Plus' programme is the course for you.
The 'Plus' denotes a truly integrated, research-led degree programme of study where the course modules are specifically designed to be multi-disciplinary in content and taught through a problem based learning approach.
In the 21st century more and more scientific problems fall across disciplinary boundaries. The future will need specialists, but it will also need scientists and policy makers trained to look beyond their own fields, so here at Leicester we can provide you with the opportunity to develop expertise across multiple scientific disciplines if you study our BSc or MSci in Interdisciplinary Science.
