Biography
Having completed my undergraduate degree in Fine Art and Art History at Goldsmiths College, London, I went on to complete a Ph.D. on nineteenth-century topographical imagery at the University of Cambridge. My interests in social and cultural history now range from the eighteenth to twentieth centuries. In particula,r my research relates to urban history and involves analysing visual evidence such as prints, engravings and illustrations. I am currently engaged on two areas of research. The first combines a range of perspectives to research the social, political and cultural significance of urban public parks and open spaces from 1700 to 1990. The second focuses on visual sources to provide new insight into the representation and perception of urban England between 1770 and 1870.
