How to sign up for events

PROSE (Postgraduate Record of Student Experience) is a new online tool to help Postgraduate Research Students record and reflect upon their progress during their time at the University of Leicester. There are several features to the PROSE system but the key capabilities available to you are:

Sign-up and record training

At the beginning of each semester the schedule of training events available during that period will be listed on PROSE. Once in PROSE you will be able to sign-up to any events and workshops that you would like to attend. The number of places available in some training sessions is limited and places will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis. The system will keep a formal record of your attendance and the training that you undertake.

Collaborate with supervisor

Record the outcomes of supervisory meetings. These records will also be accessible by the supervisor so that the student and supervisor can work together to agree the research and training plan and reflect on progress.

Accessing PROSE

Go to the PROSE system, select Register and complete this form

Register

Once you press Submit you will be sent an email asking you to verify your account. Open the hyperlink in the email and this will take you to a page where you need to create a Password for your account.

When signed-in you will see the following navigation:

Student Navigation

Select Edit Profile. Under Student Details you can add the email address of your Supervisor(s). This will send an email to entered Supervisor address, asking to assign you as their student.

Student Details

Also in Edit Profile you can alter other settings on your account, including preferred email (used for receiving emails and logging-in).

Events and training

Registering for events

You can see any forthcoming training available to you under Available Events. This includes training from your college and wider across the university.

The events appear in chronological order and appear as shown here:

Event

Click on title to find out more details about the event. If you wish to attend the event select the Register button. You will receive an email confirmation of your attendance. However if the event is already oversubscribed you will be placed on a waiting list, and you will have to wait for somebody to withdraw from the event before your place is confirmed. Therefore if you do sign-up to an event and you no longer wish to attend it, please ensure you cancel your registration.  After clicking on "Cancel Registration" you will be asked to confirm you wish to cancel, you must click "Yes" to complete the cancellation, and you will receive an email to your designated PROSE address if this has been successful.

Cancel Event

The events list can be quite long, so you can apply filters to the search, by selecting Show Filter at the top of the Available Events page.

Event Filter

You can filter by:

  • Month
  • College
  • Search for a key word

Viewing your Events

From the main navigation you can select My Current Events to see all the coming training you have signed up for. My Past Events will show history of all training you signed up for and have been registered as having attended.

Supervisory Meetings

You can keep full records of meeting with your supervisors on PROSE. From the main navigation select Supervisor Meetings. To add a meeting record select Add a Meeting. In the meeting edit screen you can: select which Supervisor the meeting was with, the date and write details about:

  • Any Work Submitted
  • Key Issues Discussed
  • Targets Agreed

Once complete select Update, this will send a notification to your supervisor. They can then add any comments and sign-off the meeting. Once signed off you can no longer Edit the details. In the example below the meeting on the 09 September 2011 has been signed off, you will notice the Edit button no longer appears.
