Following from the success of previous symposia this latest event provided research postgraduate students and postdoctoral research staff with a superb chance to find out about a wide range of potential career paths.  The programme included a comprehensive range of speakers, presentations, exhibitions, workshops and networking opportunities.

Our speakers reflected a very wide range of professional disciplines with some emphasis on non-traditional applied fields.  They included a cross-section of perspectives from newly professionals, fresh in their post-PhD career, to seasoned professionals with a wealth of experience to share.  Mindful of the challenging times we sought to put together a programme that included a wide range of career opportunities.  Speakers shared some of their own career history alongside their perspectives on opportunities within their sector, the opportunities within their organisation, hints and tips for professional life post PhD and hints and tips for those applying for professional roles post PhD.

The event also included three workshops, specifically 1. how to plan the development of your career, 2. how to get a job and 3. an exploration of postdoctoral careers and fellowship opportunities.

The morning exhibition included stands laid on by a number of research councils and funding organisations.

As ever the networking lunch provided a central focus of the symposium, which afforded participants an opportunity to meet speakers, exhibitors and workshop facilitators to discuss career issues and opportunities.  It afforded delegates an opportunity to access experienced professionals who would be extremely difficult to access otherwise.

Details of the programme for the day, workshop and exhibition information, along with details of the organisations represented are available by following the relevant links on the menu.
