Graduate School Induction Morning

Alongside the induction programme organised by your School/Department, the Graduate School runs an induction morning for new postgraduate researchers  The induction morning takes place 24 January 2012 10:00-13:00 in the Ken Edwards Building (Lecture Theatre One).

Hosted by the Graduate Dean, this event features presentations on what you as a new postgraduate researcher can do to get in shape for your research degree, how you can better manage your relationship with your supervisor, and how you can develop your research and transferable skills.

Postgraduate Researcher Development Team Workshops

Our Postgraduate Researcher Development Team host a range of workshops throughout the year including several designed specifically for those at the start of their research degree programme. Up coming workshops include:

  • Managing Your Supervisor, 27 January 2012
  • Getting Started on Your Thesis, 20 February 2012
  • Managing Your Time, 24 February 2012
  • Academic Writing Skilss, 27 February 2012
  • Planning and Managing Your PhD, 07 March 2012

All sessions are held in the seminar room in the David Wilson Library Building, but places are limited and advance booking is essential

The www.jobs.ac.uk website has lots of good advice for those who are at the start of their research degree and wondering what to do next - including their top ten tips for PhDs and advice on how to plan your PhD.
