The advice below relates to requests for a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) statement from current postgraduate researchers only. Current students on other programmes - e.g., undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes - should contact the University Registry for advice. What is a CAS statement?

A CAS statement is required if you will need to apply for a visa renewal/extension because your current visa expires before you will complete your studies.

How do I request a CAS statement?

Current postgraduate researchers should print and complete the form below. Please attach to this:

• a copy of your current passport (the page with your photo and passport number)
• a copy of your current UK visa
• a copy of your biometric identification card (if you have one)

Your completed request and attached documents should be returned to the Main Reception in the Fielding Johnson Building.

How long will I have to wait until I receive my CAS statement?

It can take up to two weeks to issue a CAS statement from the date your request is received. You are strongly advised to submit your CAS request in plenty of time before the expiry of your current visa. You are also asked to wait until you have received your CAS statement before making a visa renewal appointment.

I am about to make a tuition fee payment - will it show on my CAS statement?

Only payments made up to the time you submit your CAS request will be shown on your CAS statement.

If you are due to make a tuition fee payment, you are strongly advised to do so before you submit your CAS request. Unfortunately, it is not possible to issue a revised CAS statement to reflect any payments made after you submitted your CAS request.

How will I receive my CAS statement?

Your CAS statement will be sent by email to your University (CFS) account.
