PhD Opportunity in Earth Observational Science
Department of Physics and Astronomy: Earth Observational Science Group
The Earth Observational Science Group (EOS) is a strong, multi-disciplinary group based in the Space Research Centre of the Department of Physics and Astronomy. In close collaboration with colleagues in the Departments of Chemistry and Geography, it investigates key climate phenomena through involvement in major ESA and NASA missions. These interests range from carbon gases, water vapour and air quality, to clouds and aerosols, to surface properties such as land surface temperature and fires.
It also supports the design and build of EO satellite instruments through its positions in the Centre for Earth Observation Instrumentation (CEOI) and National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO). Two specific PhD projects are available starting autumn 2009 - with the present scheme providing the funding for at least one of these.
