Graduate Teaching and Research Assistant Opportunities
Fund your PhD through part-time teaching and research work with the University
Students wishing to undertake postgraduate research study at the University of Leicester can finance their PhD studies through Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTAs) and Graduate Research Assistantships (GRAs)
Those appointed as GTAs/GRAs are contracted for a four-year period (subject to annual review) to undertake departmental duties averaging no more than one day per week over the full calendar year. Although the work normally focuses on teaching, including preparation and assessment time, Graduate Teaching and Research Assistants may also be engaged in other duties as part of a planned and balanced portfolio of relevant academic experience.
GTAs/GRAs normally receive a waiver of UK/EU full-time PhD fees for a period of up to four years as well as an annual maintenance grant of £13,590 (2011 rate).
