Funding for Conferences and Study Visits
Attendance at academic conferences and/or study visits are a key part of the postgraduate researcher experience.
The Graduate School is unable to provide funding to support attendance at academic conferences or study visits. Postgraduate researchers invited to present their work at a conference or wanting to undertake a study visit and who are looking for funding for travel and subsistence should speak with their supervisor in the first instance for advice on possible funding sources.
AHRC Research Training Support Grant
With effect from 01 October 2010, postgraduate researchers funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) will no longer apply directly to the AHRC for support towards the cost of study visits and attendance at conferences.
Instead, the AHRC will now provide the University with an annual Research Training Support Grant which will be managed by the Graduate School. AHRC-funded students needing support towards the costs of a study visit or conference should now apply to the Graduate School to request funding from the Research Training Support Grant
