Tuition Fees

The University of Leicester charges an annual postgraduate tuition fee which covers registration, tuition, examinations, graduation, and registration with the University of Leicester Alumni Association.

What will my course cost?

The tuition fee you pay depends on:

  • the course that you want to study
  • whether you are studying full-time, part-time, or by distance learning

The fee you pay will also vary according to whether you are a Home/EU student or an International student.

Home/EU Students

Students pay the Home/EU tuition fee rate if:

  • they can show that they have been "normally resident in the EU" - i.e., not for the purposes of education - for at least three years before the start of their course

and

  • can demonstrate they are settled in the UK - i.e., have indefinite leave to enter/remain in the UK or have right of abode in the UK

If you are unsure whether you qualify as "normally resident in the EU", visit the DirectGov website for more information.

Home/EU students can find the 2009/2010 tuition fees here:

International Students

If you are resident outside the EU you will normally be charged the appropriate overseas fee.

How can I pay my fees?

Self-financing students may pay their tuition fees in two instalments. The easiest way to pay your fees is through our secure online payments system. We accept MasterCard, Visa, Maestro, Solo, and Delta cards.

Alternatively, tuition fees may be paid by electronic bank transfer or cheque/bankers draft. Click here for more information. The University is unable to accept cash payments.

The University requires you to be responsible for the payment of tuition fees. However, you may have arranged for your tuition fees to be paid by a sponsor. In order for the University to invoice your sponsor directly, you are required to provide a letter from your sponsoring body confirming that they will pay your tuition fees. This letter, together with a completed University Sponsorship Details Form, should be sent to the University. The University will then invoice your sponsoring body directly. If for any reason your sponsoring body fails to pay by the requested date you will become liable for payment of your tuition fees. Please note that the University does not recognise private individuals, such as relatives, as formal sponsors with whom it will deal directly.

Who can I contact for advice?
