College Directors of Postgraduate Research
Each College has a Director of Postgraduate Research who plays a key role in assisting the Graduate Dean and the Head of College in formulating and implementing policies and procedures relating to postgraduate research students. The Director plays an important role in promulgating University policy at College level and ensures that there is effective communication between the Graduate School and the College. In particular, the Director assists the Graduate Dean and the relevant Head of College in:

Working with Postgraduate Tutors to ensure that students’ progress is monitored in line with University regulations and codes of practice

Developing and implementing a College Researcher Development Training Programme

Developing and monitoring a recruitment and marketing strategy for postgraduate students

Working with Postgraduate Tutors to ensure the dissemination of good practice across the College
- Developing an understanding of postgraduate student requirements
- Developing an understanding of the policies of the relevant Research Councils/AHRB and other funding bodies and playing a role in the preparation of applications, responses to consultation documents, etc.
- Advising departments on the development of new postgraduate degree programmes and serving on programme approval panels
- Serving on postgraduate appeals panels
- Encouraging and facilitating inter-disciplinary initiatives at postgraduate level
- Liaising with the Graduate Office on matters relating to postgraduate students
- Undertaking other duties relating to graduate studies in the College as required by the Graduate Dean or Head of College
