Research Group: Geophysics and Borehole Research
My research interests are based on investigating the sedimentology of fine-grained sediments. To this end I use optical and electron microscopy, and petrographic analysis of mudstones to understand the processes of deposition, and depositional environments.
My responsibilities include the maintenance of project-specific databases.
Presentation at the Annual General Meeting of the BSRG, 2011: Davis and Sherwin; Dynamic deposition of fine-grained intervals from the Namurian of the Edale sub-basin.
Presentation at the Annual General Meeting of the BSRG, 2012: Sherwin, Davies and Macquaker; Facies variations as an insight into depositional mechanisms in fine-grained sedimentary rocks.
Poster presentation at the Annual General Meeting of the BSRG,2013: Sherwin, Davies and Smithson; Early Carboniferous marginal marine palaeoenvironments preserve important vertebrate fauna in the Northumberland Basin.
