Research interests

Large explosive volcanic eruptions; sedimentation of pyroclastic density currents; mechanisms of caldera collapse; structural and kinematic analysis of rheomorphic ignimbrites; emplacement of asteroid impact-ejecta blankets; interpreting pyroclastic successions; and catastrophic sedimentation including giant debris-avalanches and lahars. Fieldwork includes the Snake River - Yellowstone Volcanic Province of USA; Pantelleria, Italy; Mount Pinatubo, Philippines; Central Mexican Volcanic Belt; Canary Islands; South Korea; and Scafell caldera, English Lake District.
