Research interests:

My primary interests are in the development of magmatic-hydrothermal systems, including the genesis of magmas in island arc settings; the release of volatiles from the crystallising magmas; the evolution of fluids in hydrothermal systems by mineral precipitation and water-rock interaction; and the products of magmatic-hydrothermal systems including economic mineralisation.

More recently I have been working with the BRitish Geological Survey on Carbon Capture and Storage, and I have specific interest in the fluid-rock reactions involved in saline aquifer sequestration.

My PhD was a study of the magmatic and hydrothermal systems of Savo, Solomon Islands. This project was sponsored by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and the British Geological Survey, with additional funding from the Society of Economic Geologists. I was supervised by Gawen Jenkin, Andy Saunders and Mike Petterson (Leicester);  and Jon Naden (BGS); and Adrian Boyce (Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre).
