2009 – 2010

Hello everyone,

After the Easter holidays we will be organising the election for the new committee to run the PCSB Geology Society for the 2010/2011 academic year.

Students from any year group are welcome to run for any position. Voting will be by ballot slip (on a day to be arranged after Easter), so get thinking whether you would like to run for a position!

After Easter, an initial sign-up sheet will be going up on the General Notice Board.

The positions available are:

• President

  Oversee the running of the society, chair the staff-student committee, attend staff meetings.

• Secretary

  Arrange the fortnightly PCSB Monday afternoon guest lectures.

• Treasurer

  Keep the society accounts in order, stop the rest of the society spending too much!

• Social Sec (x2)

  Organise social events, get to know everyone and help new first years feel at home.

• Fieldtrip Secretary

  Arrange the Ingleton fieldtrip and any other optional fieldtrips (Lakes, Castleton etc) or day-trips.

• Merchandise Secretary

  Sort out the hoodie/t-shirt orders, organise all other equipment orders needed (mapping board plastic etc).

• Advertising Secretary

  Make the posters, facebook groups/events and help advertise all of the PCSB talks and social events.

• Webmaster

  Keep the PCSB website up to date.

• Sports Secretary

  Keep in line the Leicester Magmatics Rugby team, Geology FC and organise other sporting events.

• Post-graduate Rep

  Advise the committee or help with any general issues that do not need staff involvement.

Nominees are welcome to campaign for votes, this could include; Facebook groups, t-shirts, (sweets!) etc. Please do NOT stick posters up around the department though.

Further information will be provided after Easter, this email is for you to get thinking if you would like to help run the Society!
