What is BA Human Geography?
BA Human Geography is about linking together politics, history, and sociology with the surrounding environment and is therefore a well-rounded course to take to begin to understand the diversity of people and place. Current field trips include New York in which you study gentrification, multiculturalism, and conduct your own research project, as well as an upcoming trip to Berlin. You can also gain knowledge in fields such as GIS by attaining analytical skills which are becoming ever more necessary in such an 'Internet of Things' world.
Why did you choose Geography at Leicester?
The reason I chose Geography at Leicester is due to the module choices available in other disciplines such as teaching, languages, and sociology, which complement the course well. Along with the fact that Leicester is a research university, you will then receive first hand knowledge from lecturers even before they publish their material.
I took the opportunity to do a year abroad in Finland which furthered my transferable skills and gave me more confidence, as well as learning about Sami culture, Christmas tourism and ice core drilling, which I wouldn't have otherwise known about! I am now ready to continue my interest in geography by studying a masters in GIS.
Geography Student Blog
Hey! I'm Caroline and I'm in my final year studying BSc Geography. I have a strong interest in environmental issues and enjoy music, art and volunteering outside of studying. I'll be blogging about my course and life at Leicester as well as proving that Geography isn't just colouring in maps!
