Research Interests

Current research interest include: The development of online tools for greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting in land management projects. Eleanor Milne is currently coordinator for component A of the Global Environment Facility’s (GEF) Carbon Benefits Project.

The project is developing a suite of tools available from the web to allow GEF and other projects to track, estimate and report changes in carbon (C) stocks and GHG emissions resulting from land management interventions. Component A of the project is led by Colorado State University USA and involves existing land management projects in Brazil, China, Kenya and the transboundary area between Niger and Nigeria. The tool set will incorporate field measurements and models and allow for the management and reporting of C benefits. The project started in 2009 and will end May 2012.

Past research work

The use of processed based ecosystem models linked to spatially explicit databases, as tools to provide information on the effects of land use change on soil organic C at national and sub-national scale. Sustainable highland agriculture in S.E. Asia. Soil erosion in relation to crop production in Yunnan Province China. Impacts of air pollutants on crops in developing countries.
