Dr Pickerill to give talk on fieldwork
The festival is being organised by her travelling companion, Naomi Hart, an internationally exhibited artist who will also exhibit her new work from the Kimberley. The Kimberley is a remote region of tropical Australia with a large Indigenous population, unqiue wildlife and landscape, and extensive mineral and energy resources.
Jenny's talk is about the Indigenous environmental politics of the region, with a particular focus on recent protests against a planned gas extraction installation and more broadly on why we should care about such politics even from a distance. There are also other talks, workshops, films and readings from experts on Australia and art. The festival is at Hope Hall (Hope Road, Wonford, Exeter, EX2 5HS) from 18th to 27th May. Jenny's talk is on 24th May, 7 pm. More information about the festival is available at: http://www.naomihart.info/
