GENIE GM Crops!

- Tutor explaining GM foods
This is quick to do (10 minutes), but can be extended to take as long as you like if you want to structure a whole lesson about GM crops around it.
It can be carried out with children from age 11 onwards, and can also be adapted to suit older children and adults by adding in more information about how GM plants are created.
This session fits in with Key Stage 4 of the National Curriculum for England (ages 11-14).
What this activity will demonstrate is:
- That genetically modified (GM) crops the same as non-genetically modified crops.
- That many crops and plants have been modified to meet a range of needs.
- That some GM crops are “transgenic” where genes from a different species have been introduced.
