Undergraduate Prospectus

Film and English make an exciting combination. The two subjects share much common ground intellectually – including issues such as authorship, genre, representation and identities – and there are many cross-overs in the form of film adaptations of English literature.

You will take modules from both History of Art and Film and the School of English. These include core modules in both subjects and a range of options.

In the third year you will take a number of special options and will write a dissertation on a subject of your choice. The dissertation may be in either Film or English.

  • Students will write a dissertation of 5,000 words in either Film Studies or English and will also take 5 optional modules. 
  • You must take a minimum of 40 credits (two modules) in each subject. The options available will vary from year to year
