Research Interests
Dr Ling Lin is an associate professor at College of English and Centre of American Studies atShanghai International Studies University, China. She was awarded American Starr Foundation PhD student fellowship in 2003 to conduct PhD dissertation research at the Centre of American Studies, University of Hong Kong. She attended Fulbright Summer Institute in American Studies as the Chinese delegate in 2006 at the University of South Carolina. Her major interest is in American politics, race and ethnicity, postcolonial studies and her recent research projects include "A Study of the Political Empowerment of American Muslims" and "American Muslims: Cultural Identification in Contemporary Fiction" (sponsored by Shanghai International Studies University). She's currently working on a research project "Muslims in the West: Hybrid Identities in Contemporary Fiction" on a British Academy Visiting Scholarship 2010-11, which seeks to bridge the political and literary dimensions of the study of American and British Muslims by addressing the issues of identity politics and representations of hybridity within the context of postcolonial literature and theory.
