FAQ

Some frequently asked questions:

When do the courses start?

English is not my native language, what qualifications do I need?

What first degree do I need to have studied in order to apply?

When do the courses start?

The on-campus courses have only one start per year - towards the end of September or early October (see here for exact times).

The Reliable Embedded Systems distance learning course has a variety of start dates see here for details

English is not my native language, what qualifications do I need?

Essentially, IELTS 6.0 or higher or TOEFL 233 (or internet-based score of 80). However there are some exceptions, e.g. if you studied for your first degree in the UK. Exemptions will be considered during the application process. Our extensive experience shows that good English skills (verbal, listening, reading, and writing) are essential in order to do well on the course.

What first degree do I need to have studied in order to apply?

Ideally your first degree will be in a relevant Engineering subject (e.g. to do the Advanced Mechanical course, a first degree in Mechanical Engineering is best). However, students with high marks in related subjects including Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics (e.g. Computer Science students may have the appropriate background for the MSc in Information and Communications Engineering as well as the Embedded Systems courses) will all be considered.
