Professor Nick Negus

Visiting Design Professor

Nick Negus studied electrical and electronic engineering at the (former) College of Mines, now part of UWIST. He then joined the Royal Radar Establishment for a short period developing IFF (Identification, Friend or Foe) secondary radar systems. Nick later spent some time in the commercial sector working on high power induction heating before joining the Home Office looking after emergency service telecommunications systems.

He has been working in a branch of the Civil Service for over 20 years looking after radio spectrum issues, with particular interest in Electro-Magnetic and Radio Frequency Interference.

He took an interest in health & safety issues some years ago and following additional study was elected as Fellow of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health.

Further experimental work and study also saw him becoming a Member of the Institute of Explosives Engineers.

Nick acts as mentor to a number of pre and post degree students and has extensive experience in finding suitable projects for them to undertake.
