The Royal Academy of Engineering is Britain's national academy of engineering; being made a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering is the highest honour for an engineer in the UK. The Council is the governing body for the Academy. Professor Atkinson has been a Fellow since 2007 and has served on the Committees for Engineering Policy and for Education and Training over the last three years.
