The UK’s First Forensic Imaging Course

This series of three one-day courses is designed to introduce professionals to the use of computed tomography (CT) in the investigation of sudden death.

The University of Leicester is the UK’s leading research centre in the use of post-mortem CT imaging with a wealth of experience in both unenhanced imaging and angiography.

Day 1 - Introduction to Post-Mortem Imaging

9 October 2012

Aimed at Radiologists, Pathologists, HM Coroners, Radiographers and any other interested parties, Day 1 of the course is designed as an overall introduction to the topic of CT scanning in autopsy practice.

This day of lectures covers the use of CT in the investigation of deaths due to natural disease as well as its use in suspicious death investigation and mass fatality incidents. The problems encountered in setting up a post-mortem imaging service will be addressed and there will be ample opportunity to discuss any queries you may have.

Registration for this event is now closed.

Day 2 - Practical Introduction to Post-Mortem CT and Reporting

Date: TBA

Following on from Day 1, Day 2 is aimed at Pathologists and Radiologists wanting to learn more about the interpretation of post-mortem CT images. The day will focus around the interpretation of unenhanced CT images using workstation based tutorials.

Our unit holds the UK’s largest series of CT scans matched with autopsy findings which have been consented for teaching use. This day will provide an excellent introduction to a wide variety of cases including both natural disease and trauma.
