Jon took up position as Lecturer in Science Education in June 2011 after joining the School of Education in September 2010 to cover as Deputy Director of the Science Learning Centre East Midlands. He previously taught secondary Science for 18 years in a variety of settings across the West Midlands including Grammar, Comprehensive and Hospital Special schools. Responsibilities have included Head of Science, Science College Coordinator, Extended Schools Coordinator, Head of Year, Pastoral Coordinator and Assistant Headteacher.

He is an Editorial Associate for the Association of Science Education’s School Science Review and serves on the ASE North and East Midlands region committee. He is a Chartered Biologist and Member of the Society of Biology.

Teaching

Jon teaches on the PGCE Secondary Science courses and has a particular interest in the ways in which ICT is integrated into classroom practice and pupil learning.
